Wallona Aritta at the Wonder Exhibition

Wallona Aritta, either Russian, Dutch, or Australian according to Trove, certainly one of the many carnival people -men, women, children, families- who followed the lead of La Belle Irene (nee Irene Woodward) and the carnival tattoo boom of the early 20th century. Text on reverse, 'This woman is tattooed from head to foot. She has some beautiful images on her body and I thought she was very vulgar. She did not come on to the stage as she was indisposed. I think if she had any respect for herself she would have been at home. These people I might say are all foreigners and that is why they are not particular. My very best wishes. Ever yours, Bert.'

Postcard measures 14.5 x 8cms. Text, quoted above, on reverse. Very good.
