Alan Davisdon Made at the World's End this Pot for Marmalade

Distributed at the funeral of the British diplomat, historian and distinguished food writer, author of Mediterranean Seafood, editor of The Oxford Companion to Food and many others. Davidson sets out the background to its contents, “There is a custom which I have met only in Thailand whereby a person composes a small cookbook before her or his death, so that it can be distributed as a keepsake to the mourners attending the funeral . . .” Davidson never finished composing his own, but he kept a file, and his widow published it as a “work in progress” for distribution at his funeral. It contains some of his choice of recipes, a couple of limericks, short cv of the author and a foreword, 'It should come as no surprise to you as you leave Chelsea Old Church to have a pamphlet thrust into your hands ...', by the publisher. Alan Davidson died on 2 December 2003, and was privately cremated. His memorial service took place at Chelsea Old Church on 19 February 2004.
