Ulysses

Peter Brook's copy, signed by him on a Gresham's School Prize Label, as the recipient of the A.C. Benson Memorial Prize for English Literature, see image. Peter Brook (1925-) arrived at Gresham's in September 1939, remained there, unhappily if his autobiography is to be believed, until 1941. Did he receive this unlikely title for a school prize there or not? Either way, it is a charming passing of two innovative 20th century artists, one not yet aware of his career and the other's close to the end.
